Daniel Guillen was born in Tijuana, Mexico on December 26, 1961 and has actively pursued his art for more than 37 years.  As a child his absorption and patience in creating detailed sketches brought immediate attention to his family of the gift that Daniel was displaying at such an early age.  Daniel's family moved to the United States in 1962 and he attended school in Chula Vista, and graduated high school in 1980, which also marked the year of his first exhibit, that took place in his birthplace of Mexico.  Following high school Daniel was accepted into Otis Parson School of Design in Los Angeles, where he subsequently graduated with a BFA.
